Trend Report: If the shoe fits… DYE it!

Today's couples are creative.  They are showing their indiviual personalities throughout their wedding and this holds true with the bride's wedding shoes. Gone are the days of boring, no frills dyeable shoes! Nowadays brides have their choice of designers that make fashionable dyeable shoes, such as the Benjamin Adams Winslet shoe, Stuart Weitzman’s Glowicky shoe, and Something Bleu’s Claudia shoe…just to name a few.

With a dyeable shoe, brides can wear a white shoe for her wedding and dye it afterwards, or dye it a FUN color for her wedding day.. Many brides are dying their shoes their favorite color, matching them to the bridesmaids dresses or making them their Some Thing Blue!  It just gives the shoe a little zhoosh!  As they say, If the shoe fits…..Dye It!

Insider Tips & Tricks: Hair Extensions

Most brides have dreamed of their wedding day for as long as they can remember. They have a vision of how they want to look on their wedding day; the beautiful gown, the jewels and the incredible hair. So you weren't blessed with thick, voluminous, gorgeous hair, not many have. Not to worry.

Hair pieces can be clipped in as your stylist is doing your hair the day of your wedding. Most extensions are dyed to match your hair color and are available in multiple lengths. In the past several years I have noticed that not only does the bride want fab hair on her wedding day, but the bridesmaids and moms are adding extensions and or falls as well. The greatness of clip in pieces is that you can use them over and over again. Not only do you look great on your wedding day, but every day!  Visit www.modelbride.com for Q & A concerning Hair Extension.

Today’s brides want to look glamorous yet natural, our Golden Girl look is just that. The romantic hairstyle I created on Rachel is all about texture, dimension and softness. Rachel's makeup look was created by using the Naturally Beautiful Beauty Box, Lush Lashes, and Peach Parfait line and lacquer. To add a bit of golden sparkle I added the Rylan floral and leaf hair pin blended perfectly into the style. Chunky crystal jewelry is a nice contrast to the intricate hairstyle. All accessories by Haute Bride. This is perfect look for a beach or garden wedding. The Platinum Badgley Mischka Lacie is the Must Have shoe for this Look!

Spring Flowers

No matter what the season, a flower is a great accessory for hair worn up or down. For brides with short hair, I fasten one to a delicate headband.

Real Bride Gina A.

Gina is such a natural beauty and so much fun to work with before her wedding, and the day-of. She wanted hair and makeup that was “romantic” and I think this half up/half down style really suits her.

Thanks to Wayne Yuan Photography for these terrific photos. I really love the “behind the scenes” shot of her brushing her teeth!

I set Gina’s hair in big curls for natural volume. Then, took down the curls and sprayed them for definition. After which I put in a side part and pinned back her hair in sections. Her makeup has a soft and fresh looking base and her eyes were done in shimmery pinks. I lined her eyes with dark brown eye liner and added a few individual false lashes for impact. Just a little crystal pink lip gloss finishes the look.

Manhattan Bride Photoshoot

Over the years it's been so much fun to work with the staff over at Manhattan Bride putting together bridal looks for their print magazine, and our most recent project was no exception. My team and I brought lots of jewelry and accessories from our Spring 2011 collection.

My favorite is the bride at the top of the stairs with her hair off to the side. She's wearing the Monte Carla Flower with Detachable Veil. It's a pretty bold look but if you keep the other accessories to a minimum it's really stunning.

Beach Bride

Because I created this look for a beach wedding I used a silk flower clip next to the bun in back. The sheer fabric with a hint of sparkle is a terrific complement to the soft, easy style. The shoes are a wedge heel which makes for easy walking on many different surfaces. You can get more information on these pieces at ModelBride.

Golden Locks

We’ve been styling more and more brides with updos that are less stiff and sprayed, and more soft, and relaxed.

In that spirit, here’s a couple of shots we did with our model, Rachel in a field of golden grass which I think really complements her hair color, the gold accessories and this great little strapless dress.

Notice how nicely the hairstyle shows in the photos from every angle, that’s because the updo has been moved slightly from the back to the side. It’s something to consider when you and your stylist are creating your own wedding day hair.
